In These Walls

I chose a random photo today. Closed my eyes, chose a file then chose a photo - eyes closed; A sunny beach at almost sunset time.

I experienced a strange dream sequence last night. I had two dreams in a row about people with strong political ties and ties to each other politically and personally. There were two entirely separate dreams where I was actively participating in both. The coincidence part is that while I was still in dream two, my son woke me to ask information about their colleague, a friend of both people I had been dreaming about. It wasn't anything political but important that my son get this information before he went to work. Too weird! I truly thought for a split second that this was a third dream with a very strong political message.

Last thing I'd ever discuss anywhere is politics and certainly not here. It's all about listening to music in my little spot on the web. I made a couple of cd's for my daughter today. She moved recently and wants house-warming presents that include music. I made some today and will make a couple more before I send off a package. I made cds with moving as the themes. One was moving house and one was moving body. As I said yesterday I need new dance playlists. Made one today for my girl's cd. It can be added to for the mp3 player. Here is one song from each: Emergency Exit from Beck and Cumbia Maya by Lila Downs. The second was once on the music pages under it's different name, Hanal Weech.

I must point out that I usually provide a link to a performer. First time is usually directly to their website. Second is usually the Wikipedia article and the third goes further down the Google search page. Beck's and Lila's today is to their myspace pages. I'm sure most of you are quite capable of searching on your own as well, any of the performers featured here.

Cats and Flowers

I can hardly imagine daffodils without thinking of these photos of Clarke. He was enjoying the heat from one of our first hot days two springs ago. I still miss him terribly and think of him every day.

I have another kitty here (Kenz) making it very difficult to type. The cats seem to know if I'm working or going to town. They won't leave me and want to stay close. It sometimes happens that I leave and don't come back for two or three weeks so they can never be sure if that is what is happening today or not. I've just promised her that if she lets me type, I will come home tonight but she didn't go for it. I think Kenz and Bella have abandonment issues. They were found, without a mother, before their eyes were open and want people around all the time. They love company and run to the window to see who's here if a car pulls into the driveway. Funny little critters!


A little music? How Can I Miss You When You Won't Go Away by Dan Hicks is the first song that comes to mind but it's been posted previously. Missing by Beck deserves a spot as does Where Do You Think You're Going by Dire Straits. Doesn't that bring you back? I was in Mexico when Communique came out. That's where it brings me back to....a hammock. Enjoy!

Fish on Friday

We got about three inches of snow last night but I took this photo about ten minutes ago. I said previously that there is snow at the edges of woods and this is exactly that. This would be a gorgeous view if the huge grey barn were not in the middle of it all. If I was a PhotosShop gal I would fix it right up.

I'm having a bit of a party while my son is away. I'm eating fish and seafood every day for the week that he's gone. He doesn't eat from this food group and can't stand the smell of it in the house so my diet has changed drastically this winter. When my daughter lived here there were two of us to over rule this. I normally ate fish or seafood four to five times a week. My boy had a laugh yesterday when I told him I was celebrating him going away. He gave me a funny look then laughed when I showed him the salmon I'd taken out of the freezer. I had my sister-in-law for dinner last night as she has the same problem in her house that her husband can't stand the smell of fish cooking. Can you guess that her husband might be my son's uncle?

Sometimes the music choice has nothing to do with the post. Today there is absolutely nothing in common, so far in fact that even I'm even wondering why the heck I want this and nothing else. Maybe I'm trying to call up the sun and warmer weather? Tropicalia is the song and I have versions by Beck and by Eliane Elias. Elian's version is replacing the missing files - an essential. Also, jazz month is coming to an end soon and that's a good enough reason in itself.

TGIF Again

Would you believe my cat is here again bugging me while I attempt to one-hand type. She never does this at four. I really have to get back on schedule or this blog may become too much for me to handle. Whew! Holy cat hair!

We are getting some weather tonight after our wonderful January thaw that followed a week with four storms. We are getting it all and in this order: A few flurries or ice pellets changing to freezing rain this evening then to rain near midnight. Snow and ice pellet amount 2 to 4 cm. Rainfall amount 5 to 10 mm. Fog patches developing overnight. Wind becoming southeast 20 km/h gusting to 40 this evening then increasing to 40 gusting to 60 overnight. Temperature rising to 8 by morning. Cloudy and showers in the morning. That was cut and paste. Lazy with this weird schedule change.

Calls for rainy music because I don't have ice pellety music. Rain Dogs by Tom Waits and Fourteen Rivers, Fourteen Floods by Beck just might fit the bill.

A New Blog

I'm cured as I thought I would be. I have a super immune system and can fight most bugs off very quickly. Several people now have told me of these various bugs going around and I hope they stay away from me as I'm certainly going to try to stay away from them.

I started a new blog today called An Island Walk. I wanted A Walk in the Woods but it was taken. An Island Walk gives me more options too. I can use beach photos. It will be three photos and three songs a day...... another reason to keep walking. Today's hike was only an hour as my walking partner had an appointment to keep. I canceled my afternoon walk as we had a little shower at the end of the morning and I thought they would continue. There is always tomorrow.

More music from the Lonely Days playlist. I have it down to over five hours now from the original over seven. Today is Beck with Go It Alone and How Can I Miss You When You Won't Go Away by the always wonderful, Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks. The subject of lonely certainly did not limit me to sad songs. These two are lively and full of great rhythms Have a listen.
