Up Hills and Down

I hate to be constantly saying that I'm having a hard time finding time for this blog but that is the truth of the matter these days. In my spare time I can choose to hike or blog. On a sunny, beautiful morning like this morning, I chose to hike. It's been non-stop with things to do and the list does not seem to be shrinking. I feel like last post's title - I'm paddling as fast as I can.

I had seven guests staying here for the weekend and a friend from Australia and one from Summerside visited on Saturday but weren't sleeping here. I prepared for the company for a few days and am now cleaning up after the weekend. We even used couches for sleeping so that makes a lot of laundry.

We had a really wonderful weekend. It was a lot of fun to see everyone; even my daughter's dog, Baxter. My brother and his girlfriend were here too and that was fun. I attended a party and stayed up late for three nights in a row. From that I have not recovered yet. I woke at nine this morning. We had to delay our hiking time a bit and I still feel like I'm jet-lagged or something like that. I had hoped the walk would fix me up.

My daughter is coming again this weekend because it's Thanksgiving. How cool is it to have the sweetie and her beast two weekends in a row. I'll feed them all well and hope that this weekend will be a little more relaxed than the busy schedule we maintained last weekend. If the weather holds I might be able to get Girlie and Poochie to the woods with me.

Here are a couple songs fitting for the time of year - October by Rosie Thomas and Thanksgiving by Loudon Wainwright III. I do hope to get here more often. The autumn has so many chores. I swear it is the busiest season for me.

Changing

It's the last day of September and if you're with it at all, tomorrow is the first day of October. The colour changing of the leaves is again late this year so this will be a fantastic month for hiking. I'm going to my favorite spot tomorrow. I won't have to worry about moose or bear, just blisters. All the hiking I did when I was away was leisurely, not at all endorphen releasing and I need a good dose.

My son who was on vacation brought me a dvd from my other son of photos of his kids. I watched it when I came home from work last night. These kids are seriously cute. It made me want to see them so bad. I always wanted to be the baby-sit-on-Saturday-night kind of grandma but alas, when they're a thousand miles away..... The photo is from a while ago from my files, not really current.

Music is to celebrate the change in the calendar. September Song by Nat King Cole is for the month leaving us and Rosie Thomas is welcoming us to the new month with October.

Music Always Fits

We're half way through July and I can happily say summer has finally arrived. It's very hot but I've not heard anyone complaining. We needed some heat as it seems to have a direct effect on people's moods after all the rain we've had. Everyone is smiling!

I was doing some real physical labour at work again today in all this heat. I had arrived at work nicely dressed and brought work clothes. After four hours of extreme perspiring there was no way I was going to put my nice clothes on again. I came home and had a shower. It's really nice working only two minutes from home and having other staff. Worked for me.

Yes, I have some music to fit this last paragraph. Rosie Thomas has a couple of songs that would fit. One is Pretty Dress. The other is Two Dollar Shoes. There is music to fit every situation.
