Waifing Away

A Little Waif

I know I've used this photo of Clarke before but I still think of him every day and though I have a photo of him in the kitchen - ok, more than one - I love this one of him. It was taken a few days after he moved here.

Another round of work shifts are beginning thus the morning post. The weather was perfect for my days off and it's nice today too. We are supposed to get some thunder storms this afternoon then cooler weather is coming, going down to 15 degrees by Sunday. Monday it's back to 25.

I'm getting some driveway work done and had heavy equipment here this morning. Work like this has suddenly become a lot more expensive with the rise in gas and oil prices. I am not looking forward to this bill. Prices keep going up. I received a note yesterday from my health insurance provider announcing their yearly increase in fees. I wish I could get an increase in pay that easily.

It's time for more music from my favorite indy band, The Waifs . Sorry, oldest son. The Waitress was the first song I ever heard them do and I was hooked by just that song. When I Die was the second. There has been no turning back. Both of those songs come from Sink or Swim. Nothing New is from Up All Night. I usually link directly to a band's website but today point you to the Wiki article on The Waifs. Every other time I've linked to them so just a little change for today.

Sun and Cloud

Amazing at what a bit of sunshine will do. These shots are of the same spot; the first one today on a cloudy day and the second with sunshine and shadows. It is cloudy but warm today, around zero.

I have to quickly add some of the missing essentials. It hit me today that there are no longer any Waifs songs om my music pages. An impossible situation that must be immediately rectified. A couple of favorites and a couple more soon. I still don't have their new album though I heard short clips on their website when it was first released. I believe I pointed you there previousl to watch the video of the new song, Here's The Haircut and When I Die.

Marching On

Four different friends have dropped in today. Must be a sign of a long winter. The last two were raving about the smells when they came in. I'm making black bean soup and ofered up bowls but they had plans for supper and didn't partake. I have my bowl cooling now.

Little yappy dog was inside today at walk time today, much to my delight. I've walked five of the last seven days on the regular walk and the two days I did not do that route, I still walked. It is wonderful that the weather moderated. We are on storm watch however, with the big storm that has already hit Ontario and Quebec, on it's way here.

Music: Today we have some songs from a long time ago. Riley Puckett does Nobody's Business which is a great song for the times and for now. I think some of these old lyrics are very precious in their understanding of the times. Sometimes, a bit of propaganda sneaks in. They're always worth a careful listen. When I Die by the Watson Family is another old gem that has good harmonies and a message.

Just realized it would be my 33rd wedding aniversary today. Time does march on. Well, off to that soup.
