Lessons To Learn

My recovery is not going all that smoothly. I made light of the pepper incident yesterday but spent a couple of hours in emergency today to find out that I have pulled some internal stitches and some muscles but have no internal bleeding. I had a pretty painful afternoon and night last night, but didn't go to Emergency as I was going to town today anyway.

I am a fast mover and it's very hard for me to slow down long enough to relax. I went grocery shopping today and thought I was being good as my sister was pushing the cart. I had a serious weak spell when we were almost through and had to sit on a little step stool someone had left in the aisle. I would have resorted to the floor. That was when I decided for sure to go to the ER.

All is well. I just have to slow down, be a better patient, and of course, avoid pepper. Who knew it would be this hard?

I don't want to make All The Same Mistakes. Mieka Pauley has that covered. Another necessary song for today is Lean on Me by Bill Withers. I hardly ever play blues here. There's no reason for that as I love the blues and have a good collection. I'll remedy that with John Mayall and Mavis Staples doing Wake Up Call.

Super Saturday

I was out and about in the countryside today and didn't have to drive. That was a great treat! I didn't take many photos as I didn't want to ask the driver to stop. I did once though, for a nice photo of a marsh pond.The weather was sunny but only nine degrees and quite windy so not too many people were in their gardens. Driving around was a very nice alternative. I went to a library sale and got a whole box of books. The two friends I went with got a ton as well, so with trading and all, we have books for a year!

My youngest son is my only child at home this year for Mother's Day. We are going to brunch at the same place we went last year. It was wonderful. I'll forget my careful eating for one day, that's for sure.

When Norman Mailer began his novel Barbary Shore, there was no plan to have a Russian spy as a character. As he worked on it, he introduced a Russian spy in the U.S. as a minor character. As the work progressed, the spy became the dominant character in the novel. After the novel was completed, the U.S. Immigration Service arrested a man who lived just one floor above Mailer in the same apartment building.
