A Post From a Great Girl

Ah, Monday. The sun is shining at last after a weekend of rain . Yesterday was downright nasty with fierce winds and a temperature that dipped to zero. On a clear night this would have meant frost but with the wind and rain we were at least spared that. I worked the weekend while it rained and will be off in the sunshine. It worked out pretty good, I must say.

I found out today my car is to cost only $635.00 instead of the $1000.00 I'd expected. It is because the mechanic did not do one of the repairs as it was not deemed vital at this time . It will be vital in a while but for now he said I could skip it.

Yesterday I spoke to my son and grandchildren. My grand-daughter who is three and a half said, "I love you Grandma C cause you're a great girl." How cute is that? My son who lives at home brought lobster that I had last night after work with a nice cold beer. Heaven!

Today's photo is of a china painting done by my aunt. I will show her work from time to time. She's fantastic and I photographed all her work that is hung in her home. Of course, you must click the photo to see the true artistry.

I'm glad to be back at work. I get in great physical shape over the summer which is a great benefit. I miss doing my various art projects but there is always a long winter ahead. In it I satisfy my cre8ive and my gastronomical urges. Summer is better for my body; winter for my cre8ivity.

Everything will Work Out Fine says Joel Plaskett. It's a perfect life, eh? I think A Wonderful Life by The Felice Brothers says it all. This was one of my favorite songs of last year and here it is again. Since all the Putfile files have disappeared, a lot of the favorites have to be replaced.

How was your weekend?

Talking It Away

We missed PEI's first taste of winter two nights ago, but tonight - the snow is coming. I wanted it to hold off until the airplane I boarded was heading south; four more sleeps! My daughter, a snow lover, was very excited last week when she was getting her first taste. I told her that I find it hard to believe that she came forth from my loins. Did none of me rub off on her?

I just want to escape it. Every year, the same thing. I complain about it and complain about it . "If only I didn't have to drive", I say over and over. All the while that I'm complaining, I do what I have to to live safely in winter's culture. Today I got my snow tires on. I have my kit in the trunk for emergencies. The shovel is on the deck. I haven't resorted to socks yet. That is the last gong for me. The three week escape I'm heading for will be precious to me in the respect that I will miss three weeks of driving in snow. Ha! What am I thinking? I trade it for three weeks of driving in a couple hundreds percent increased traffic on roads I'm completely unfamiliar with!

White Snow by Ben Weaver is perfect for today. Might as well keep it real. I hate winter but accept that I live in it's throes. I don't think it's forecast to be this extreme but Snowed In by Joel Plaskett will add to the Maritime tradition that if you talk enough about it - blow lots of hot air - a storm won't come. We'll see if it works.

Sunny

The day is full of sunshine - at long last. There are towering cumulus on the eastern horizon so we may have a thunderstorm but until then.... I will enjoy sunshine. My tulips have a disease. If you click the photo it greatly enlarges and you can see the disease. Does anyone know about it. Should I dig up affected tulips or is it caused by an insect?

I have clothes on my clothesline today. My son fixed it almost a week ago but we haven't had a day without rain since. I love the sheets on the line best but all the clothes smell so much better. I don't know if that translates to industrial cities or polluted places but the sea-filled air here is wonderful and I love it on my sheets.

The boy is sick at home with the flu today. I think it may be the first day he's ever been off sick. He went into work and got the crew started and is a phone call and short distance away if they need him. He rented three movies and has laid on the couch for the day. I've waited on him hand and foor, and made chicken, black bean, rice soup. The flu struck PEI quite late this year and has been making the rounds. It's been twenty years since I've had it and I pray I don't get it now.

After being listed in The Best Photoblogs in the World yesterday, I was listed on the front page of the e-edition of The Guardian, Charlottetown's newspaper, as well....on the same day. They listed two of my blogs, this and Shutterchance, on the left under community bloggers. Two of the other three listed are on my daily blog roll so I feel in good company but I must say I'm a bit surprised.

Music today is from a couple of Maritime singer songwriters. I may already have this song up but can't find where at the moment. If so, here it is again.... Love this Town from Joel Plaskett and I am replacing Rose Cousin's absolutely beautiful song If You Were For Me. She's from here on PEI>
