Gorgeous Days

Though I'd reminded him, my son let my ride-on lawnmower run out of oil, seizing the engine. The machine is toast. He has his father's gardener mowing for me right now. The grass is so long! I was enjoying the deck on my last day off but had to come in. I was making pom poms from yarn for a Halloween outfit for my grandkids. It's a clown suit from the past and in wonderful shape except for the pom poms and the elastic for tying the hat. Both are easily attended to. Sitting in the sun making them was wonderful and what I needed. I've had a full day of housework today after being out and about yesterday and cooking and entertaining on Monday. I'm liking this three days off per week schedule.

I've got the most beautiful bouquets. I've got mixtures of sprigs of golden rusty fall mums, Jeruselem artichokes, wild aster, cultivated aster, tons of sweet peas, bachelors buttons, a yellow perennial I bought that I don't know the name of, and the same with a deep hot pink flower. The beautiful Stargazer and Razzle Dazzle lilies I have as ikebanas displays with wire frogs. They are stunning. I love flower displays throughout the season. With my great selection of vases and flowers it's easy to have them.

Today's music is from Amos Lee. Sweet Pea for the lovely flowers and Sympathize, a song with a similar name to yesterday's song (though in a different language) are worth your time. So are the songs he has on his website. Click the link to listen to some of his latest album. I love his sound.

Oh, Oh. A Big Boo Boo

I will be blogging very slowly for the next while. I've just returned from the emergency department . I have severely dislocated my shoulder, tearing the ligaments and getting a bone chip in the process. I had just taken off my skates and put boots on. There was a little fellow skating here with his grandma. Since he had a left handed hockey stick which I never get to use as they are unusual in this family, I thought I'd have a few shots. Three shots of morphine were not what I had in mind.

I won't be skating or snowshoeing any more this winter as I am to wear a contraption for six weeks. I'm not sure how I'm going to cope. I can't get dressed, peel a potato, tie my boots or even drive - at least for now. I may require surgery so am to see a specialist.

Arms of a Woman
by Amos Lee sounds like it might fit in for today's post. The title fits anyway. All the Way Down by Glen Hansard is good too. I love this song. It has meaning for me.

Colours

I have had quite a autumn vacation! The best and the worst has happened. The worst was that my sister-in-law who had suffered the massive stroke earlier in the week passed away. I attended her funeral yesterday on the way home. It was very sad for us all to see her children feeling so lost. It's very hard for them as their mom was everything to them.

There were several very good things that happened. I attended the 87th birthday party of the woman who was the mom next door when I was growing up. Her daughter was my best friend. It was fun seeing people who I hadn't seen for thirty plus years.

My cousin who lives next door to my dad was inducted into the country music wall of fame while I was there. I went to the big ceremony where I saw lots of relatives. The next day he had a brunch and we had a birthday party for Dad so with two parties next door to each other, we had one huge party with tons of relatives and friends. I had aunts visiting from Toronto and my cousin had aunts and cousins from away so the mixture was wonderful with lots of people seeing each other for the first time in decades. It was one of the best days I've ever had.

I was in the woods every day. With the beautiful autumn colours there was nowhere I'd rather have been. Months ago my aunt from Toronto and I had planned to spend a day in the woods and it was really nice and a special day. Supposedly there are lots of bears around as well as many moose and deer but we didn't see anything while we were out. We kept up a constant chatter and I sang to ward off bears. I knew my out-of-tune voice would come in handy some day.

For music, what else but Colours by Amos Lee. All of My Days by Alexi Murdoch is fitting on many levels of this post so that's the second choice for today

Friends

I was invited out to dinner today and have declined the invitation. I find it so easy to just stay home. I spent yesterday out visiting and really enjoy spending time with my friends but today was one of those days to hunker down. It's windy and the temperature dropped to one this afternoon. It is supposed to be zero and there's weather such as freezing drizzle and snow in tomorrow's forecast. Another day to hunker down?

A friend gave me a bottle of rum for a birthday gift. I'm having a Bloody Mary with said rum and have a bottle of Clamato juice in the cupboard too. Today's music is for friends. When you have them, you know it. All of My Friends is by Amos Lee. When you don't have them, you also know it. Walk Away is by Ben Harper.

Tomorrow really means my New Year has begun. Time to get started on some projects. I think I'll just hunker down and get at them. I spend way to much time on-line. I enjoy it so much but things doen't get done by themselves.

Peachy!

I keep saying I'm finished work. I really am this time till November sometime. I really feel it psychologically too.... a feeling of freedom. I can stay up or out; no work tomorrow, no kids at home. I had a cappucino yesterday afternoon knowing I might be unable to sleep (I had no problem) and wouldn't have to worry about getting up.

I plan on working on some jewelry tomorrow so I'm cleaning my work tables today. I'm waiting for a visitor right now, had my walk already and visited my friend and ex-mother-in law in the nursing home. Life just feels peachy! There's dinner and trivia tonight and so today can only get peachier.

Music: Freedom by Amos Lee and There'll be a Hot aTime in the Old Town Tonight by Laverne Baker.
