Five Minutes

I have a few minutes only so there's only time for music today. I was taking photos at a friend's pastureland the other day and felt a presence to my left. This cow was there watching me and for the next ten minutes basically did just that. He was a curious fellow.

How about John Lennon today? I have a version of Stand By Me by Lennon that is very Beatle-like with George Harrison's unmistakable guitar. Does anyone know where this song is from? One of my favorite Lennon songs is Instant Karma. Something that stands out in this version is Ringo's unmistakable drums. We're only missing McCartney for a complete Beatles day. Could he be singing background in Instant Karma?

Mother's Day

Oh what a day I've had! I don't know if I'll be able to eat until next week after the wonderful brunch I attended. The problem is I have an oven full of ribs that I was supposed to cook yesterday but cooked today and a friend of my daughter dropped off lobster for Mother's Day. I also have asparagus coming out of my ears (looks really funny). No, there's no wolf at my door.

My son was wonderful company at brunch. I talked to my daughter a couple of times today and I just got off the phone with my son and grandson . I was pretty sad for a time this morning but I'm findingMother's Day a little easier each year. I called my dad this morning but he was out so I talked to my surrogate mom instead. They all know how hard this day has been for me in the past.

For music today the ultimate Mother song....the one from John Lennon. Patsy Cline always reminds me of my mother so here's one for my Mom, Crazy by Patsy Cline.

We're half way through the coincidences and it's one that is pretty well known:
Mark Twain and Halley's Comet
Mark Twain was born on the day of the appearance of Halley's Comet in 1835, and died on the day of its next appearance in 1910. He himself predicted this in 1909, when he said: "I came in with Halley's Comet in 1835. It is coming again next year, and I expect to go out with it."

Sedately Sunday

My cats are well trained to not go after birds. They've taken it apon themselves to keep squirrels in the same category and don't chase them either. A pity! Squirrels eat incredible amounts of seed and will chew wooden feeders to make larger holes. I got several photos today of Bella and the squirrel.

The weather has moderated for just today. It is expected to be cold again tomorrow. I took advantage of the mild weather and went for a long fast walk. Exhilarating! The robins are back in full force. I've seen several here and many on my walk today. Spring is in the air is what they say to me.

It's hard to believe there's so much good music encircling this world and that more and more is made every second. The small amount that I get to listen to is just a tiny bit in the overall amount produced. A pity! I love surrounding myself with music and love to share it so for today, just a couple of good songs. They aren't for any theme or thought...just good songs by great artists that I hope will make you feel good. One is a live version of Imagine by John Lennon. He's no longer with us but his music continues to go round and round. Neil Young is also here with a live version of Helpless.
