Outdoor Work Progresses

I thought I was sore and tired yesterday. Today I'm swollen, sore and tired and had to take Ibuprofen to get back outside after lunch. No one told me middle age hurt this much. Even one of the cats is limping today. They were pretty wild in the trees yesterday and again today, jumping from tree to tree and onto the ground from on high. Kenz went upstairs one foot at a time. I still haven't had a hot bath but opted for showering for the shorter time it required. Tonight for sure!

I got a lot done in these two days but not everything. I haven't even touched one garden. A property this size and established has a lot of upkeep and it's too much alone. My son is not into garden and yard chores so I get no help at all. There is way too much for one person. I love my house and property but would like to find something a lot easier to maintain.

It was a beautiful day to be outdoors and I enjoyed that aspect of today. We are expecting a couple of days of rain and drizzle so taking advantage of perfect weather is golden. The rain can do it's job on the gardens now that I've done mine.

A good friend of mine turns fifty today. The music is for her. My friend's name is Heather so Blooming Heather by Kate Rusby is especially for her and Enjoy Yourself by Todd Snider is good advice for your birthday no matter the age.

Mission Accomplished

I have no photo of the glass work for you but the piece is finished. I have to clean it and have someone hold it up so that I can take a photo. Due to schedules the client won't see it tell next weekend. It will be decided then, where exactly in the restaurant it will go.

I'm not that pleased with it in that the lines look like an amateur did the piece and I suppose that is basically true given my absence from the field. I need more practice. I did two very large windows in tandem a couple of years ago and the second was much better. I did enjoy the experience though and the studio got a good cleaning.

Sister in law was away for an enjoyable 's vacation week so I have someone to visit regularly again. I missed her terribly. No world problems got solved this week in her absence and they certainly weren't as heavily discussed.

With my mission accomplished, I have Mission Accomplished by Todd Snider to celebrate. He has a few celebratory songs actually, Beer Run and Enjoy Yourself. I really like his songs. Why not one more. The window design features two capes and beaches and Todd has a song called Ballad of Cape Henry. Close enough for me. I really love the duet but don't know who is singing with Todd.

Be Safe

A music blog I routinely read, The Late Greats, is having a special day today with forty-five songs up for a listen or download. Amazing!! I manage two a day and a couple more on special occasions. The blogger, Duke of Straw, is very prolific. His site has a music player so you can just start it up and listen to the songs he has up. I'm listening now.

I had been thinking about getting a music player for quite some time but they cost a monthly fee. I gave up the idea though because I'm being forced to upgrade my daily photoblog right now, which has a monthly fee. I actually get comments and feedback on my photos and very little from the music. Basically my kids comment here and occasionally someone else. The smart thing says spend the money on the Shutterchance blog.

My daughter is leaving for a vacation this afternoon. One son is coming back from one today and one son is studying for his final, final exams at university. Busy, busy bunch! I was visiting with my grandchildren last Easter and they are traveling from the Dominican Republic today so are on my mind. That's the reason I am putting this photo for the second time. Of course, I'm also doing the time-honoured grandmother's job of showing pictures of her grandchildren.

Music today is for the vacationing parts of the family. Enjoy Yourself is the best wish I can have for you. It will be harder for my son as he's travelling with two small children. The kids would probably like this version by Tod Snider and the old one by Louis Prima might make them laugh.

A Freeze on Aging

Taffy, another dog friend at his freezing pond.
Mine is not freezing yet and I wanted ice photos.

Having those few days off was really necessary for me and brought my bad week to a great end. I will be finished work on Sunday with maybe a day to get things sorted out and put away till spring. It's been intense to say the least.

We didn't do very well at trivia last night. We crossed out lots of correct answers after our discussions....but what do you do? It was S's birthday yesterday and mine is in three weeks. I don't like them so much any more. My friend who shares my birthday; day and year, had her head on my shoulder kind of wimpering about it too. Maybe next week I'll suggest we cancel aging this year.

Music: Young Man's Blues, a short ditty from Mose Allison and Enjoy Yourself (It's Later Than You Think) by Louis Prima.
