Snowed In

A post with no time for talking. I do have a few photos of the blizzard we've had for the last two days. It snowed yesterday but not today but the wind was 60 - 80 km. per hour both days and the drifting was severe. My driveway was plowed out twice since this since this morning and sis in law had a terrible time leaving here after that. My son can drive through anything and will get down, then plowed out again before he gets up in the morning.



The above show approximately the same spot in around twenty six hours. It is still blowing like crazy as I write this thirty hours later.

Most of the ground was bare before this 'spring snowstorm'. Poor man's fertilizer, I explained in 2007. Ha, I found out I talked about it in 2006 as well. Anyway, we really got walloped this year, I think.

For today, a storm day on PEI, some pictures from this little hide away. We've had freezing rain off and on all day. The off melts the last adherence. It's not too bad as you can see. It could be serious with the weight of ice pulling down tree branches and electrical wires. I could hear ice falling off (luckily) because the temps here were on the warm side.

I had too much old music yesterday probably, but I enjoyed every bit. Here is some music for today:

Growing Grass

I'm expecting visitors any minute so this may be in parts. We've had rain since afternoon and it's a bit welcome actually. It's keeping me indoors. I'm still finishing up on some projects. Normally my studio is an active place but with all of the events of this winter it has become a catch all that must be cleaned out. I sure can put off things.

My son can too. I've asked him to take over lawn mowing this year. The grass is ready to be mowed but now we're getting a couple of days rain which will make it grow like crazy. The photo above is from last evening. Everything is green or yellow in my yard. Amazing how fast things grow and take over.

Louis Jordon is bringing the music today. My favorite of his songs, Is You Is Or Is You My Baby is popular here with 235 plays already. Then there's The Green Grass Grows All Around, and Baby It's Cold Outside, For today there's Five Guys Named Moe and Louis Jordan with Louis Armstrong with Life Is So Peculiar.

Fishin'

Angling season opened yesterday. My son fished in the pond before light but got his line tangled up. He doesn't get to take many days off work but he took today off for the express purpose of fishing. He was somewhere half across the Island but sadly for me he didn't catch anything.

I've been a lucky recipient of a lot of fish over my life. I have a friend who loved to fish my pond but doesn't like eating fish so he brought his catch to me. My son and nephew both love to fish but don't eat it either so their Grampy and I got to take turns receiving their catch. My friend doesn't fish in the pond anymore. Once he had children he stopped. It was a way to get away for him and taking children along didn't fit. My neighbour kids fish there now. They have to lock their dog away though. They took him with them last year and he kept jumping in after the bobber.

I'm not crazy about fishing myself, as you have to sit still for awhile. I'd rather tramp around the pond looking to see what I can find which is what I'd do when the kids started fishing. I didn't like them to go by themselves so would be close by - just not sitting still.

Taj Mahal's Fishin' Blues is the first song that comes to mind for me and the Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong classic, Gone Fishin', as well. I absolutely know I had the latter but can't seem to find it. Louis Jordan's Saturday Night Fish Fry is more fun anyway.
