Springtime Snowstorm

Today, look at these daffodils from my garden from another year. I will show you some fresh ones later this spring too. Why? Because tomorrow I will show you photos of snow drifts that are the result of today's storm. We have had a raging blizzard all day. I took a few shots from a window but will wait till it's over to show the result of the whole day's wind. It has been wicked and you are going to be amazed at the huge drifts, as I am looking at them out the windows. I must say, It's a bit depressing.

I'm doing lots of chores in my relaxation/vacation mode. I am deleting photo files, making CD's, thinking about other chores that have to be done... It's a process, you know. The experiments with my hair continue and I realize I'm a bit more inept at it than I thought. Good thing I have elastics, barrettes, ties, scarves and other items to do something else when my experiment fails.

The lovely Sarah Vaughan has some perfect sentiments for today's weather. First, Snowbound and then, Spring Will Be A Little Late This Year about says it for the conditions throughout the Maritimes today.

Stormy Weather

I have a 45 minute break then back to work for the evening. I get to attend a concert and get paid for it. Not bad...

My car was looked at and tested by another mechanic and he is 99 percent sure that I don't need a distributor, the $332. part that Toyota wants to put on. He cleaned the intake today and is going to fix me up on Monday. Mechanics are very busy around here, that's for sure. I just hope this guy can make it all work.

It's pouring out right now, a few hours earlier than forecasted, and very cold too. More rain and storm music would be appropriate, I'd say. I already have Dinah Washington's version of Stormy Weather up. Today I'm adding Willie Nelson and Leon Russell's version, as well as, the wonderful, Sarah Vaughan's.

Now for something to eat.....

Gone Walk About

Well I'm down to one more sleep. I'm mostly packed, most of my visits are taken care of, my phone call list is getting down to the last few....Alf answer your phone, and the cat food is topped up. All ready!

The first part of the trip will be filled with laughter. I never have as much fun as when I'm visiting my favorite aunt and uncle. They're the music lovers and they think I'm funny. I then visit another aunt. Everything becomes more serious with her and I really enjoy that too. She thinks I'm a genius. After that, I cross the province and visit with my son's family with two little grandchildren awaiting. Very exciting!!!

There are 568 songs between Page One and Page Two in the links to listen to until I'm back. I uploaded a couple of songs onto Page Two last night to provide links to something other than this blog. Give them a listen. One is an African song, Baisabi, by Ziomara Fortuna. The other is Fortune by Emma Pollock.

For today more travelling songs....Think Twice Before You Go by John Lee Hooker and Bye Bye (The Peter Gunn Theme) by Sarah Vaughan. Remember, visit the music pages. Bye Bye.

Let's Tango - Whatever Lola Wants

We're expecting weather again; a massive storm is coming up from the US but it's uncertain at this point what PEI will be getting. At least there will be a break in the cold. Oil prices are so high and this is a big house. I've had quite enough of winter already. Bring on the daffodils. Of course there are a few plusses to winter. There are always beautiful birds at the feeders, it's absolutely gorgeous driving in the country, some bugs (earwigs) are dying in the ground, foods like soups and stews are on the menu and mosquitoes or black flies are on their annual hiatus.
Yes, we have to find beauty and gratitude even in winter.

The radio's weather forecast is now in. Tomorrow night: snow changing to ice pellets then rain at midnight. Plus one celcius by morning and windy throughout. We can take that. We'll just dance through that.

Today's music is to get those dancing shoes warmed up. It's some of what I've been dancing to. I love Gotan Project and have some of their music up already. I really like them and play them a lot. They are definitely a band I would love to see live. Today's selection is a remix of Whatever Lola Wants with Sarah Vaughan and Last Tango In Paris.

New York to Charlottetown - A Long Way Indeed

Almost forgot that I had a lunch date in Charlottetown today until a late e-mail yesterday. Two friends and I went to New York City six years ago to the World March of Women. We have lunch other times too but always at this time of year, to commemorate that trip. There's talk of going back again but it's hard because we have other destinations that we want to travel to as well and none of us are rolling in dough. You actually have to save for these trips and NYC is an expensive place to visit.

Made some great earrings today. I like them so much, I think I'll keep them.. I've never made two pairs the same; it's kind of a trademark but maybe I'll make some similar.

Blogger is having some photo upload problems at present so it's possible there won't be a photo attached to this. Perhaps I will put one up later. The music was late for yesterday's post because Putfile was down for maintenance. I got it up this morning though, so no worries.

Musical selections today : Since it came up, Autumn in New York by the incomparable Sarah Vaughan and perhaps Let's Call the Whole Thing Off also by Sarah.

The links today make me rethink everything I just wrote. Overheard in Charlottetown is today's link. It's counterpart, Overheard in New York, is linked here today but always available in the sidebar. What does that say?
