Thankful for Turkey Dinner

The turkey is cooked and settling. There are some veggies in the oven and soon I'll put the stove top veggies on. I have to make gravy yet and slice the turkey. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving but we're having dinner today as a lot of folks do. Sunday is a better day for most families, I'd say.

I asked my son to invite back a friend who visited the other night. He'd brought a four or five week old kitten last time and I nearly kept him. The friend actually gave him to me and left him but I had him come back for it. Look how tiny he is and how cute. My son thinks I should take him as he will be relegated to the barn with their herd of barn cats. I don't need three cats when I'm about to go away for a trip. also the girls get their noses out of joint . I've hoisted two other cats with them in the past. Billy Bin Laden, the Holy Terror, was a disaster. Clarke worked out well. Who wouldn't love Clarke?! Even the cats loved him.

The veggies are on the stove and I have to run soon. That leaves music. I am sure I have a song called Thanks For the Giving but I can't find it. Here is Thanksgiving by the wonderful Loudon Wainwright III. More perfect though is Brett Dennen's Blessed. That's how I feel this year.

Thanks, Carol. Turkey is my son's favorite food. I wanted roast beef.
I was trying to figure out from your post, the status of your mom.

She is getting over pneumonia, which she got after surgery. Still in CCU. Trying hard to work with the hospital on discharge, but they have horrible communication and planning problems, as well as some incompetence in the mix. Trying to get her a bed at an SNF or nursing home, but either they're full or don't take Medicare or don't take car accident patients. The hospital just "guessed" at her med dosing when she came in, and instead of asking her (she was coherent the whole time) or calling her pharmacy or asking us to bring in her bottles, they gave her her Parkinson med once a day instead of 3 times a day, which we just found out after 2 weeks, etc. Hopefully we can move her this week; she is nonweightbearing for 3 months minimum. It will be a long road.

How awful, Carol! I hope she has relatives near by as it will be difficult with you so far away. It's hard being the child sometimes when you're far away.

Yeah, thank goodness my sister is there. She's got the brunt of all this. I flew down for a week, but she's handling paperwork, visitation, maintaining Mom's house, feeding Mom's dog, paying Mom's bills, disposition, etc. I know I will be flying down again in the near future. Thanks for your concern; I appreciate it.

Ocean - I would love a kitten but no, I think two cats are enough. I hope he visits again though.
