What a Day

Goodness! Almost four hours late. My plans changed directions so many times today that it's a wonder my chair was still waiting for me when I turned the corner. Everything, even though plans kept changing, went smoothly enough though, so it was an ok day in Charlottetown.

The dental appointment I rescheduled after the dentist canceled the previous one, was canceled first thing this morning. The dentist sustained a golf injury and may be out of commission for a while. He thinks he sustained a rotator cuff injury. Not good for a dentist......or an artist, don't I know. I may have to see another dentist as a new patient. I'm not aware if there are shortages in the dental field like there are in the medical field.

I had to have unexpected car work done to pass my annual vehicle inspection. Brake pads and rotors, headlight bulb, etc. I had car repairs not too long ago as well. I'm not expecting any miracles. A vehicle costs a lot of money to run and maintain and is an absolute necessity living in the country. And, it's where I choose to be.

By the time I got home I had to prepare supper and was just starting the stirfry as my son was walking in the door, so it's now late. What A Day is the song of the day. It's by Greg Laswell and was featured on Grey's Anatomy. Joe Cocker is bringing us the second selection today, the classic summer song. I wish I could get the songs from my vinyl into mp3's. I would play my favorite, and very different, version of the Summer In the City - by BB King. Maybe you have it, Ralph? You had the Aretha song I wanted for so long.

Turns out I already have that one up on Page Two so here's another second song of the day - Home Again by Haale.

Sorry, dear, I come up dry on the BB King. I did learn it's on a 1972 alvum called "Guess Who." Is that the same Summer in the City that we all know by the Lovin' Spoonful? Must be different!

Yes, it is from that album. It is a lovely slow version of The Lovin' Spoonful's hit.

Funny you were talking to Kat in comments about the same thing - wanting to get music from the old vinyls. I have a lot of good music in mine.

There are proven ways to get vinyl onto CD, but I've not been able to get them to work. You can even buy a special turntable, but that's a couple hundred $$$ and I can't see spending that much money for what is basically a one-off project, no matter how big....so I'm at a frustrating standstill on the whole thing.

There are ways but all expensive.

Nope. There's freeware on the internet that works--all you need is a turntable and some cables. See email I just sent.

I'll check it out.
